Clean and precious

Here are two more subjects for still lives that I just had to do.

Washing our hands is as important now as it was back in the day. The yellow coal tar soap used in the Q station wash houses is the hero of my Clean artworks: the names scratched into the paint echo the graffiti carved into the sandstone and timber on site. 

Toilet paper became strangely significant as people panicked at the start of lockdown. The loo roll is a mundane every day item that shifted in meaning as we all grappled with the uncertainty of the times.
