Community Garden Oddment - Wetlands #39
Egret and the Waterlilies is the title of this new piece from my latest Community Garden project, Wetlands.
Wetlands is all about discovering what lives in and around our nearest or favourite body of water. From backyard ponds to coastlines, from mangroves to bogs, this first Wetlands project has had people out in nature, exploring what animals, plants and insects live and thrive or struggle in their local waterways.
This handsome piece of fabric - left over from a recent print run this last October - is ready for you to embellish with gloriously imperfect embroidery and make into an artwork for the wall or perhaps artwork onto the front of a plain old calico bag. Imagine that!
This unique hand-stenciled piece features a great egret, two waterlilies, a golden bell frog, common galaxias, frog spawn, water milfoil, a couple of ferns and a sedge. Every motif is based on the drawings that Community Gardeners have sent to me from wetlands around Australia.
