Big Girls Blouse - Red Fern
An artwork you can wear for best-practice sustainable fashion. Every Big Girls Blouse shirt I make is a labour of love, that takes many hours to create.
Sourced at an op-shop by my friend Helen, who has a particularly good eye, this shirt has been re-loved and hand-printed by me in my Blackheath studio. Now it’s a one-off gender-neutral shirt or over-shirt (some might even say, a shacket) that would suit a stylish human.
Red Fern is printed on a cotton that is woven in two colours - the warp is bright pink and the weft is orange giving the fabric a slightly shimmery shot silk look - a lovely pinkish reddish orange colour. The fabric is really soft too. I've removed the cuffs and collar and then top stitched, leaving the raw edges as they were - it just felt right for this shirt.
The print motifs are from my last Community Garden project. This shirt is roughly a size 12/14 - see SPECS below for this shirts measurements.

It costs AUD 18 to ship by registered mail with Australia Post.
Specs
Stencil print on second hand shirt. Pre-washed and heat set ready to wear. There may be a small imperfect smudge or thumb print somewhere on this shirt. And we all know by now that this is all part of the hand made process, so embrace it with pride.

Care
For care of this garment, hand washing is my preference but not essential. It can be washed in a machine on a gentle cycle and hung in the shade on a line to dry.
